In late 2004, God brought together a small group of people centered on a vision for a new kind of church in Osceola.  Our shared vision was for a nondenominational church, a place where people who didn’t feel comfortable in traditional churches would feel comfortable, where any person of any background would feel welcomed, accepted and treasured.  A place for misfits to fit in!  And most important of all, a place where people could grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ together and live out their faith in the real world everyday, not just for an hour on Sunday.

Our name, New Life Christian Community, is a constant reminder to us of the new life we have by being united with Christ, no matter what our past.  It also speaks to our desire to be a community of believers that not only loves and serves each other, but reaches out to love and serve the people in our community – to help the needy, hurting, and broken in whatever places God leads us to.

New Life Christian Community began worshiping on March 19, 2005 on Saturday nights using El Salem Baptist Church in rural Dresser.  That was a good beginning for us.  The folks at El Salem were very kind and generous.  God led us to Jeremy Kimble, and he came to be our first pastor in July of that year.  Until then we had used sermon videos for the messages.  We give God all the credit and glory for making that work, and everything since then.  We had learned much in those two years with Jeremy, growing strong in the biblical basis of our faith and what the church was intended by God to be.

When Jeremy left in June of 2007 to return to seminary, intense searching led us to call our current pastor, Michael Brand, from Brunswick, Georgia in September of 2007.  Michael has helped us to develop our vision as a church, has continually taught us what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ, and has shown us with his life what grace and servanthood look like.  We are truly a group of people who love and take care of each other, in gratitude for the grace, love and mercy God has lavished on us.   We have open hearts and look forward with much excitement and anticipation to how God chooses to use New Life Christian Community in the coming days.
