Sunday’s @ New Life
What To Expect On Sunday Mornings
Prepare Yourself
New Life Christian Community is a “come as you are” kind of church. We have a very informal and a very casual atmosphere. Translation: dress how you feel comfortable. We love and welcome children of all ages and we understand that kids will be kids no matter where you are. Translation: Bring your children without worry! We are non-denominational community for followers of Jesus. We understand that everyone is at a different point in the journey therefore we try to make sure that our gatherings will not be uncomfortable for anyone regardless of your religious tradition or background. Translation: You don’t have to know anything about church or the bible to come here.
What About Children?
We value children participation in our worship gatherings so children do participate in the first half our service. Children from ages infant – 5th Grad will then be dismissed to a time of teaching for their age groups. During the last song of the service children will be escorted back in and return to their parents. Parents of infants may pick of their children in the nursery. Listed below is an age breakdown for our ministry to children:
Nursery: infants to 3 years.
Elementary: 4 years – 2nd Grade
Intermediate: 3rd – 5th Grade
Elements of the Worship Gathering
At New Life, we encourage all to participate in four different aspects of our worship gatherings.
Singing: This is simply one expression of enjoying the presence of God. We sing to celebrate how wonderful it is to have a personal connection to God. We also use music as a time to prepare our hearts to recieve from God and as a time to reflect on what God may be speaking to us during worship.
Listening: Sitting under the teaching of the Sciptures is a primary way of hearing from God. The speakers at New Life consider themselves more teachers than preachers which means we try to take the time to explain the scriptures in a way that is easy to understand and also challenges you with practical ways to apply the teaching to your life. We provide bibles and teaching outlines to help you follow along with the teaching and take notes for yourself for later use.
Offering: Giving, although often a sore subject in the church, is an important one. An offering is giving a gift in the name of God to go towards the work of God. Our covenant partners participate in covenant giving. This means that they have committed to support the ministry undertaken by New Life Christian Community. In addition to that regular support they are often challenged to contribute to “above the line” giving. This means that they will contribute to other works of God elsewhere in the community and throughout the world such as supporting the local food shelf or children in under-resourcesd parts of the world. While all gifts are appreciated only covenant partners should come with the expectation to give.
Serving: Serving others is one of the highest forms of worship we can offer. Service is simply obeying God in what he calls you to do. We try to encourage people to service on Sunday mornings through ministry to children, hospitality to partners and guests, music, etc. Service is essentially coming to church not to take your seat but to provide one for someone else.
After the Service
At New Life we believe fellowship is an important part of gathering for worship. On most Sunday’s there are refreshments provided for those who attend. We spend several minutes talking and laughing and encouraging one another before we all leave to start our week. We hope that you will feel comfortable enough to stick around for a few minutes and allow us to get to know you a little better before you leave. Since New Life meets in a rented facility we also spend a few minutes cleaning up. This usually doesn’t not take very long since everyone pitches in.
